After a comparatively quiet first half of 2026, Bitcoin communities across East and Southeast Asia are springing back into action.
Just days after the large-scale Bitcoin Asia 2026 conference in Hong Kong - organized by BTC Inc., the company behind Bitcoin Magazine - a decidedly Bitcoin-only gathering will take place in Seoul.
Our friends in the South Korean capital are back with ORIGINSEOUL 2026, a three-day conference under a new banner. ORIGIN X founder Ryan previously founded and ran BitcoinSeoul for two years before stepping away from that event. With ORIGINSEOUL, the team aims to strengthen a distinctly Bitcoin-first culture in Korea and connect the country’s community more closely with the wider Asian Bitcoin ecosystem.
Not everyone in the Bitcoin community is a fan of the more commercial mega-events, such as the one in Hong Kong, with thousands of attendees and - by necessity of the economics at that scale - a more commercial character. Smaller conferences with deep roots in their communities provide a more intimate setting to get to know some of the people involved in and contributing to Bitcoin and its proliferation in various ways - whether in their respective local communities or among a wider global audience.
Visitors will also likely encounter at least one or two more familiar faces from the Saigon and broader Vietnamese Bitcoin community in Seoul.
